The Mole Interviews

Best remembered for wearing the stocks all day, Wendi was The Mole's third victim.
Splatter: What was the most difficult challenge for you?
Wendi: Oh, I would have to say, hands down, it was the bullfight! For me, it was the bullfight, because, I know he was small, but he was fierce, he was intense, and he had horns! It was still a bull, and if there was a challenge I would like to have said "no" to, that would have been it.

ABC: But you went ahead with it anyway, good for you! So tell me what you were thinking, when you were staring down the bull.
Wendi: I was thinking "I hope I don't end up on my butt like the rest of the players."

Alfred: What did you like best about being on the program?
Wendi: Hmm. Well, there was lots of really good food. But if I was to pick an event I enjoyed the most, I would have to say it was the skydiving. I was approaching the age of 30, and something I really wanted to do. So when I was able to, there was nothing better than to have accomplished that.

Pompom: What sort of questions were on the test?
Wendi: They were kind of vague questions such as "What did the Mole have for breakfast?" That sort of thing. You can find some of the questions on the website.

Tube Dude: Who do you think will win the money?
Wendi: Hmm well, you know, that's kind of a question I don't know if I could answer for sure, but I know who I'd like to win--and that would be Katherine. I think she's playing a very good game. If she's not the Mole, I think she deserves it the most. I saw her taking copious notes, really involved, and really trying to figure things out, and she wanted a lot of info on the players all the time. Now, it could also be something the Mole is doing on purpose! Or it could just be a person who wants to win. If she's not the Mole, I think she's most deserving of it.

ElizP5: Did you find it strange that the first three to go were you and the two people you got along with most?
Wendi: Yes. If I could have stayed in the game, I could have had a great game going for that very thing! To have the first two people go be the first two I spent the most time with gave me a good start at looking like the Mole! So if I would have stayed longer, I think people would eventually start questioning whether I could be the Mole.

ABC: Well, where pacts ever discussed?
Wendi: Pacts weren't a topic, but I did see what I thought was an one, between Jennifer and Jim. She mentioned this on the second episode, that she had become good friends with Jim. But, this is a game where there is only one winner, and there's no way to split the winnings. So no matter what, it's everyone against everyone else.

Aidan Tapler: How did it feel with the chains and block of wood on your neck
Wendi: It was the worst feeling in the world! I didn't know if I was going to do it. I wanted to check it all out, and I knew there was no way I could do it for another day, or however long they were going to make me wear it. But I thought "Hey, it's for the team." I was in it, believe me, for eight hours, and when I took it off, I had red marks on my neck, and I truly believe a bruised collarbone!

Mole player: Wendi, since you left the show, do you have any inkling as to who the Mole might be? If so, when did you find out?
Wendi: Well, as far as finding out through ABC? Absolutely not. They've not told any players, and they won't be revealing it. I'll find out when you do. As far as my own instincts, I'm down to one or two people. But it's mostly gut instinct I had when I went into the show, when I first met everyone. And then I let everyone around me kind of deviate who I stayed with, and I wish I would have stuck with my instincts because it's a good way to go.

Pioneer: How drunk was Charlie, really?
Wendi: That's a good question! You know, I didn't sit at the same table with him. so I didn't see what he was drinking, or how much. I don't know if it was an act, or part of his game. He did it to me in the first episode, and now he's doing it to Kate. Although in the third episode, I think they made up and befriended each other. But it could be the strategy of someone in the game, or the Mole! Getting drunk as a strategy.

OutSider: Would you have done any of the other "dice" challenges? (i.e. get painted nude, shave your head)?
Wendi: I would easily say I would have done any of them at this point, because I saw all of them. Kate got to wear a little cloth during the nude painting, and the green hair didn't last too long. The cast didn't look like anything, compared to the stockade around my neck! The shaved head I would have had to think hard about, but if I could have had immunity for that one episode, I would have done it!

CSP brutha: Do you feel that the tension is rising among the players or are you guys trying to keep a calm and relaxed atmosphere
Wendi: I think you're going to see tensions really start to rise. I think you saw Manuel, Afi and myself who were there for the adventure, and what you see now is we've gotten rid of the adventure players. Everyone left is there for the cash. You'll see tensions building, and more clashing. It's only going to get better!

Mole Regular: What was your strategy on the third exam?
Wendi: I had trouble on the third quiz, I was distracted by the bullfight. I was busy watching the bull and wondering how I'd live through it. I wasn't watching enough of the person whom I suspected was the Mole. And the quiz contained many questions about the time before, during and after the bullfight. And I just wasn't sure how to answer them. Therefore, my strategy didn't work, and I gave more of my questions to other people than I wanted. I know that may be hard to understand, but you'll understand if you look at the quiz on the ABC website.

Cintra: In the cornfield maze, were you really unable to hear Afi or were you pretending to be the Mole?
Wendi: I wish I was pretending! But actually my earpiece kept turning out of my ear, and I just wasn't able to hear her all the time. In the second episode, you can see me trying to push on that earpiece. I was so frustrated, and you heard me yell "I can't hear you," and then I'd be able to start over. But it's reality TV, and what you see is what you get. No second chance.

Citra 2: Wendi I think it was unfair that everyone had to face a bull. I know I wouldn't. Did you do it for the group our were you willing to face the bull?
Wendi: To be honest, I'm up for anything! I've spent too many years of my life being scared of things. I thought "I've got this wonderful trip, I want to experience everything I can." I didn't want to get shish-kebabed by the beast, as Charlie almost did. And I was the only one who never fell. (smiling And now that I can say I've done it, I feel proud.

Orange: What did you think of everyone else's tasks in the dice game? Good for you for wearing the stockade!
Wendi: I really feel like when I look at Jim, and I think "All he would need to do is wear a stockade like I did." I think "What is he, a wimp?" And Steve--come on! He has a good body, and he says he would only do it if he had a body like Henry? There could be some Mole action there, but I'm not sure.

SQ Talkn 2U: What happens if two people get the same score on a test, and that is the lowest score? Do they have to take it again or what?
Wendi: They are timing us, if two players have the exact same amount of questions right, whomever takes the least amount of time in the quiz is the one who will stay in the game.

Deborah: Why is Charlie so irritated with Kate? It didn't make much sense to me why he was so upset
Wendi: Again, I think perhaps that could be a little bit of Charlie's strategy. I've seen him doing it with me and I think he could be getting people to think he's the Mole. There was never anything Kate had done, I think they were just bickering like an old married couple!

Kirby: Who did you bond with the least?
Wendi: Definitely Jim.

ABC: And who were you the closest to? One of the people left?
Wendi: It's hard--that would be between Manuel and Afi. I did have more time with Afi, but I did love them both dearly. I hope we can stay friends.

I Am ThE MoLe: Wendi, hi, I just wanted to say that ever since the beginning, I thought you were the Mole, but when I found out you weren't I felt so badly for you, and I actually cried when I saw that red fingerprint come up after your name. So, I just wanted to say that I am sorry for accusing you of being the Mole, and I just wanted to know if you had as much fun as it looked like you were having?
Wendi: First of all, thank you so much! Secondly, I really had a lot of fun right before I got executed! I think I finally just realized it was a game, and if I don't win, I don't win. But it's an adventure so few people have!

I am the Mole 768: Were you aware of breaking the rules when you asked Charlie about his heart never being broken?
Wendi: Yes, I was aware of it, I knew what I was doing, but I also was aware that I was up against two lawyers, a detective, and an undercover cop. And I knew my chances were slim of getting through, and I thought I'd try a small sabotage. But then I felt bad afterwards, I really did

Confusion: What would you have done with all that money?
Wendi: I would not have gotten a boob job, like what is printed [on the site]! I would definitely have taken my family and close friends on a wonderful vacation. I would have done some things for charities. And definitely gone back to school.

My Sons Mom: Was Anderson Cooper as cute in person as he is on TV?
Wendi: Cuter!!! I had a little problem with this while I was on the show. I just found him very attractive. So I think anytime he was around, Afi and I were very mesmerized by him. I called him the cleaned-up version of Vanilla Ice. He had eyes which would just melt you.

Yyzzx: If there was one thing you could change about the show, what would it be and why?
Wendi: I think I would have changed my strategy. I felt I was always trying to find a way to look like the Mole. And if I could do it again, I would do my best to win every test given, because I think people are more suspicious of the people who are there and trying to win, than the people who are trying to look like the Mole. I probably also wouldn't have drank before the third quiz, because that might have affected my performance.

MoLe MaStEr: I enjoyed listening to you and Afi sing on the show. Ever consider singing professionally?
Wendi: As for singing professionally, well, I love to sing, but I have a horrible voice! But that's very sweet!

Kaytee: Was being on The Mole worth all the pressure and everything to you?
Wendi: You do go through a lot, starting with interviews, and then finals, and then being on the show. For me, it was worth it. There are only nine other people in the USA who have done this. And I'm just lucky that I was chosen, and that I have these memories.

Roirat: Do you get to keep any of the money earned up to date?
Wendi: No! All of that money is for the final person there. All the rest of us got a wonderful trip, and we got to do things we might not have been able to, otherwise.

Sassy Smith: Was the food as good as it looked
Wendi: The food was out of this world! I'm from Iowa, and I've never experienced fine cuisine! I was a little nervous, because I never knew if I had the right fork, or if I was cutting my food right, but it was fancy, elegant, and you did feel like a famous person, being waited on hand and foot, and nine-course meals. What's funny about it is I flew all night to get home, and when I got home, I was eating Fruit Loops.

Who Da Mole: Did you know any French or Spanish when you traveled to those foreign countries?
Wendi: I knew no French, and I'd taken Spanish back in high school. I hardly knew any when I got there. And even when I got my stockade on, I thought "I'm not going to do this," and I couldn't remember the word for "off!" So I ended up being stuck with it on. I was trying to be a team player there! So it was all good.

Mole one: What was your interview/audition like?
Wendi: I found out about it through my brother. He told me to look up the ABC website. I did that, and read all the information. I was going to send in a tape, but chickened out at the last minute. But between that day and the next day, which was the last day to submit, I ate out at a Chinese place. The fortune cookie said "Adventure awaits." So I knew it was talking to me! I raced home and recorded myself talking, took some pictures with the digital camera, and three or four days later I heard back from them. I didn't say anything interesting! I said I was 29, going on 30, looking for a wonderful adventure, and that I got this fortune cookie and explained why I decided I wanted to do it. I talked for five minutes straight, never stopped--and I guess they thought I was interesting!

Schtoiker: We last saw you being taken away in an SUV. What did you do after that and when did you return to the U.S.?
Wendi: They took me straight to a hotel, which was far away from the other players. And the next morning, there was somebody there waiting for me, and by that night I was back in the United States. The first two nights after I was back, I'd wake up, and I didn't know where I was! It was hard to adjust back to normal life, and not having mics on, and all the sudden you're alone again!

Bane 0f Evil: Wendi, did you know that a Reality TV show stated that they had several sources (one being an acquaintance and another family) saying that you were not only an actress, but also ABC's Mole? What do you think about that?
Wendi: That is funny! I actually became aware of that, probably, two days ago. And I thought it was the funniest thing in the world! I've never taken any acting classes, no drama, not in high school or college. I'm just an Iowa girl, and so that was really comical to me. I don't know where they got the information, because none of my family members knew anything. Not even how long I was gone. So I thought that was really funny.

Treguard: When you had your luggage changed, did you lose anything you wanted later?
Wendi: I was in charge of my own luggage when we did the luggage change, so pretty much I had a really small bag. I took the least amount of anyone there. So all I did was throw my stuff in the Mole bag. So I had everything there that was supposed to be there--I didn't lose anything.

Gringo bear Amarillo: How did people in France and Spain react to all of you?
Wendi: In Spain it was quite comical, because wherever we were, there was usually a huge mass of people watching. For example, when I put the stockade on, and walked out of the shop, there was a huge group of spectators laughing and pointing. They were very curious as to what we were doing.

ABC: Do you have any tips for viewers in trying to uncover who the Mole is?
Wendi: At this stage of the game, it could still be anybody. You need to be observant to all of them Yet, as people, we're pretty good at figuring other people out by how they act. And if you go with who you think, you could be right.
