805: A COMING HOME, PART 2

Missions:
5: Selling Tickets for Concert

My comments:
The episode starts out with the groups asking questions of there families about before Apartheid and after Apartheid. After dinner Ayanna finds out that she and Yes are going to learn African dances. The next day Shawn and Pawel went to the beach with their family and it is there that the borders fall down between Shawn and the family and he realizes that they were not happy with the ways that Blacks treated. When Shawn and Pawel get back to the house they talk to some other family members about what their lives are like now and they explain that the family is scared that they might lose their jobs because of reversed Apartheid. The rest of the groups also got along great with tier families. Shawn that night has dinner with the grandmother of the family and they were afraid that she would not accept Shawn but when the night was over he was accepted totally by her.
On the last day that they were at South Africa, the cast members and their families got together and meet with each other, and everyone was happy to meet each other. After the dinner the cast had to sell tickets for a concert at the celebration of Freedom day. Went the band got on the stage everyone had a great time and the mission was almost completed. When they got back to the boat they presented the presentation and it was very well accepted.

What Bunim-Murray had to say about the episode:
Shawn is determined to assert himself as an individual rather than a black person. He begins to experience racism and gain further insight into what it means to be a black man in South Africa. By the end of his South African journey, Shawn has experienced first hand that he is indeed an African-American.
