THE ROAD RULES VS. REAL WORLD CHALLENGE

This is the true story of five travelers picked for a mission to find out what happens when
they challenge a houseful of strangers in the first ever Real World/Road Rules Challenge.

My comments:
Some of the things that the Road Rules group said about the Real World.
Sean: Hey Paul, why don’t you roll my log?
Syrus: Have you ever been stuffed by a six two Jew?
Montana: We have a Bic for you.
Elka: I want to buck you like a runaway deer.
As usual Sean and Genesis are looking to find a girl to go out with.
It was nice to Syrus and Oscar get along, Oscar needed to know that not everyone is a jerk.

What Bonnie had to say about the episode:

Original Air Date: September 29 & Oct. 1, 1997
Part One - Aired during Road Rules time slot
Segment #1
Various scenes from this year's Island Road Rules missions. During the mission where Oscar and Jake eat a nice dinner because Jake won a homemade-raft race, they receive a cake with a clue in it. This has hints for the next mission for the Road Rules group. They have to study the dossiers of people they will have to challenge in some sort of game. They notice that the photos and biographies are those of the Real World Boston cast.
The Road Rules members make fun of Genesis and Montana's names. Oscar thinks Elka is pretty. Erika is excited about this mission, but she hopes the challenge isn't in paintball. Vince suggests they put some trash talk on the challenge card they have to deliver to the Real World cast's hotel in Puerto Rico. They have fun with it and write various jabs at the Real World cast. They write, "Montana we have a Bic for you;" which pokes fun at the fact that Montana calls herself an unshaven feminist.
The Road Rules gang gets into the van and goes to the hotel to drop off the card. Oscar and Kalle are nervous as they drop off the challenge card because they don't want to have to give them the card face to face.
All the members of Real World get to the hotel and check in. That's when they pick up the challenge cards. They laugh and scream when they read the cards, especially the fighting words. Montana and Kameelah jump up and down and scream; they seem most excited out of the group to be challenging the Road Rules cast.
Syrus and Elka, however, think the Road Rules cast are fools. Sean misinterprets part of the fight words, and thinks that Oscar might be "a gay guy who wants his log." Sean and Syrus get riled up about beating the Road Rules members.
Segment #2
The next morning, the Road Rules folks dress in yellow t-shirts that have numbers and their names on them. Jake thinks the Real World members might be tougher than them. The Road Rules group now has $14 between them all and they hope they'll win some money from this mission.
Genesis wonders if there's any lesbians on the Road Rules cast. Kameelah says she's excited and hyped to "kick butt." The Real World people climb into a van, but the driver won't tell them where they
are going.     In the Road Rules bus, Vince makes fun of the Real World cast. In the Real World bus, Genesis says she'll stand up for her housemates if the Road Rules people say anything bad about them.
The Road Rules people arrive to the destination first. It's an obstacle course. As they put on special shoes for the mission, Oscar becomes obsessed with keeping his shoes clean. Oscar threatens to stop to clean his shoes in the middle of a race if he has to. Erika teases him.
The Real World people get there next and Kameelah yells, "Road Rules, show yourselves!" They all get outfitted with t-shirts with names and numbers on them as well. Elka's excited that they are Calvin Klein. Jason is upset because he thinks he looks like a dork in a lavender t-shirt.
As they walk down to where the Road Rules people already are, Syrus jokes with his housemates to watch out for boobytraps. When they spot each other, Jake says "Oh my God" when he sees how large Syrus is. Genesis threatens to kick their butts. Vince says he wants to give Genesis a spanking. They are not getting along.
Mission: Road Rules/ Real World Games
The teams will get one point for each game they win. And $50 for winning each game, $100 for winning the last game. The loser will face a task of humiliation.
Jason says the Real World has a good chance of winning with the boys, but not with the girls. Because there are more people on the Real World side, they have to make two alternate members sit out every game.
Oscar says to Erika that the girls in their group are tougher than the Real World girls. Sean thinks that Erika and Kalle might be lovers.
The Real World team draws to see who will sit out from the first game. Sean and Montana are picked to sit out.
GAME 1: Pass your team through a net without touching the sides. The hole can only be touched twice.
The teams get five minutes to plan out their strategy before the game begins. The whistle blows and the game begins.
Segment #3
Syrus touches the net and the whistle blows on him. The Road Rules team looks like its doing well, but then Jake touches the net and gets a whistle blown on him. In the meantime, the Real World wins it.
Kalle says she's having paintball flashbacks. She says they need the money more than the Real World people do.
For the next game, Kameelah and Jason are picked to sit out.
GAME 2: Cross from one table to another by using a plank and you can't touch the ground.
Road Rules members fall on the ground and have to repeat. Syrus jumps amd lands on his shin. He's injured but he jumps again and wins it for the group. Kameelah is being loud and screaming her cheers. The Real World members win the second game.
Syrus's leg is really bleeding hard and he thinks he's going to need stitches.
Vince says if it means they'll win without having to compete against Syrus, then "let it bleed."
Part Two - Aired during Real World time slot
Segment #4
First aid is administered to Syrus. They wrap his leg and he continues to play in the games.
GAME 3: The Box. Five people must stand on a little box at the same time for five seconds , all with at least one foot on the box (none on the ground). Real World wins this one too.
The score so far is: $150 for Real World, 0 for Road Rules
They all take a lunch break.
Kalle talks to all the Real World members about how they're all down to $14 total to live off of for their next mission. Montana and Elka think it's funny that Real World is winning when the Road Rules people are supposedly the rugged ones.
Sean wants to give the Road Rules members money, but Kameelah and Genesis don't think they should help out because the Road Rules members never did anything for them.
Syrus and Oscar bond about being the outcasts in their respective groups. Jake tries to hit on Elka and Genesis very unsuccessfully. Kalle and Erika laugh at him from the sidelines.
Sean says he liked them all. Kalle says they have to win the next two games to "save face."
Lunch is over and the next game begins.
GAME 4: The Wall.
Every player must scale a wall and cannot use the edge of the wall or the tree to climb.
Jason and Syrus sit out on this one. Jason and Syrus talk about one of the Road Rules' girls and her "tush."
The Road Rules people are doing well on the wall, but the Real World team is having a tough time since it's all girls and Sean. Road Rules finally wins a game. The Road Rules team screams and jumps up and down. They win $50.
FINAL GAME: Tug-o-war
Syrus says it's an easy one to get injured in and tells his teammates to protect their faces.
Jake thinks Road Rules will lose if Syrus is in the game.
Segment #5
In the four-way tug-o-war game, the object is to drag the other team through the mud. There is no time limit.
Kameelah and Elka have to sit out of this one.
The Road Rules team is not looking forward to battling against Syrus. Kalle doesn't think the Road Rules team will win it. Syrus says the Road Rules team is scared.
The whistle blows. They all struggle, but strangely enough, Road Rules wins it! The Road Rules team jumps up and down and screams with joy. Jason and Syrus look shocked. Road Rules won because they worked together as a group as opposed as the Real World who pulled from seperate directions.
Final score Road Rules: 2, Real World:3.
Erika says she was surprised too, but glad they pulled it off and have more money. They all shake hands and the games are over.
Because the Real World team won more points, the Road Rules team has to go through the humiliation which turns out to be giving the Real World members a pedicure.
Sean says that both sides feel a bit apprehensive about the pedicure.
Oscar refuses to give Montana a pedicure because she was a woman. Montana takes major offense to his excuse and picks up a handful of mud and throws it in his face. He runs after her and puts mud in her face. She tries to put him in a headlock. Now they both have mud on their faces. Montana's laughing, Oscar is not.
Kameelah laughs and asks who has the humiliation of giving Jason a pedicure. Erika gives Jason a pedicure and says his feet were quite clean and his toes were shaven .. she laughs and says she didn't ask why he shaved his toes. Kalle accidently cuts Seans toenails too short, but they both laugh.
Montana asks Oscar if he's mad. She says if he wasn't going to give her a pedicure, he still had to face some sort of humiliation for losing the games. And what better way to be humiliated than to have a red-headed white woman from Manhattan throw mud in your face.
Segment #6
They all get paid their winning prize money and go their seperate ways after promising to meet up later at a club.
Both groups say they feel closer to one another now.
Syrus says that once he got in the van and laid down, his injured leg began to really hurt.
Sean tells Kameelah that he's really intrigued by the Road Rules cast. Kameelah says she hopes they are cooler at the club than at the games. She didn't like them at all.
Syrus goes to the hospital to get stitches. He may have to get a tetnus shot as well. When he asks the doctor for Bactine, the doctor laughs. Syrus describes the hospital as one that would be in a third or second-world country.
Back at the hotel, Sean asks Jason if he's attracted to any of the Road Rules girls. Jason says he likes Erika because she knows how to massage a man's foot. He also says Erika has something special in her eyes when you talk to her. Sean says he likes Kalle's look too. Jason likes Kalle's pigtails and says that she has big bossoms.
Back at the hospital, the doctor tells Syrus he can't eat anything for awhile since he's getting a tetnus shot. The worst thing that can happen to Syrus is that he has a fracture and he'll have to stay in the hospital.
The Road Rules folks go to the club to meet up with the Real World people, while Syrus is getting stitches (for three hours). Syrus puts on his headphones and tries to distract himself from the pain as he gets stitches. Lots of scenes of blood gushing from Syrus' leg. Ouch!
Sean and Erika chat at the club. Erika is smoking and Sean buys her drinks.
Syrus complains that he can't have a cool limp at the club.
It's getting late and Vince thinks Sean might "get" Erika.
Later Montana says they were basically a nice bunch of people.
Jason says he doesn't know exactly if Sean and Erika got together. Montana and Syrus are convinced they had sex. Sean's smiling and not talking.
End Segment
Kameelah is still bitching about the Road Rules folks on the bus ride back to the hotel. In the other van, Road Rules members say they were nicer people than the Real World people. Back in the Real World van, they call the Road Rules people "too white bread."
