310: Out the Window

Missions:
9: Survive French Cuisine

My comments:
The dinner that they had to eat was gross, just looking at it I would not have eaten it!
It is good to see Belou drop Steve
The Princes need to realize that they are dealing with young adults not old people.

What Bonnie had to say about the episode:

Original Air Date: March 10, 1997
Segment #1
This mission: Survive French Food
In Paris at night, Belou says there's a distance between her and the group. She says that's why she like Pablo so much. She says it's just like a romantic movie...meeting someone special in Paris.
Chris says when he sees how Belou has puppy love for Pablo --- he wishes he could feel that way about someone as well. He writes Belou a cryptic letter about how he feels. She reads it aloud to Pablo. She says she doesn't understand the letter. She says Pablo only talks when he needs to. He tells her not to waste herself and her feelings on everyone.
They get in Pepe the next morning and head for Tours, France for their next mission.
They drive up to Chateu de Bourdaisiere. It's a castle. Two men greet them. It turns out the group is shaking hands with two princes. Belou thinks of them as two normal guys. They tell the group they will be staying in the chateau overnight. They get a full tour of the house and gardens.
The guys are shown to their room first. It's all red interior. They are told the room is dedicated to men. The girls are confused how girl-crazy one of the princes, Louis, seems to be. Belou says that Prince Louis is just a horny guy. They learn the house itself was built for mistresses from the past reign.
They learn that this mission entails surviving French food including snails and something they are not allowed to know the ingredients until after they eat it.
Chris jokes about the food and the mystery behind it. Michelle is suspicious of what it is. Chris says the smell was disgusting. He makes a funny face. They still don't know what it is exactly, but they eat it anyway.
Segment #2
They continue to eat the food that looks like a huge wrapped sausage. Chris describes the food smell similar to a rotten egg mixed with horse crap. Antoine eats the whole thing like it was ice cream. Michelle moves it around her plate so it looks as though she's been eating it. After everyone is finished, they learn they've been eating pig intestines and testicles.
After dinner, Michelle and Belou are in their bedroom. Belou has decided that she is going to break up with Steve over the phone. Michelle says that Belou was scared to break up with him. Lots of scenes of Belou crying on the phone and yelling at Steve. They continue to yell over the phone and Michelle looks nervous that Belou is blowing up again. She throws down the phone and pounds on it.
Later they are all together in the bedroom talking. Antoine asks Belous if she's okay and needs to talk about something. Belou says she feels like she's an outsider in the group. Belou accuses them of not opening up to her. Antoine says that if she wants to be a part of the group she has to care about them too. Antoine says she's always complaining. Patrice says they know she's the one that always blows up in situations.
They all argue with Belou about how they don't try to exclude her like she says they do. She says she's tired of always having to defend herself around them. As Patrice tries to tell her that maybe it's not them that needs to change, but maybe her, she looks like she's about to jump out the window she's been sitting on. Patrice jumps up and grabs her waist to keep her from falling.
Segment #3
Patrice freaked out. Belou wasn't going to jump, she was just moving her sitting position. Patrice says they got to talk a lot of things out that night. She says she didn't understand the letter that Chris wrote her in Paris. Chris holds her hand and explains to her that he could never be like her...a dreamer. He starts crying about how he could never be in love like her. He says love to him is divorce and hate. She starts kissing him on his forhead.
Prince Phillip Morris (the non-horny one) comes up to the room very angry. He tells them to be quite because the rest of the household is trying to sleep. He says he cannot understand why they are being so disrespectful.
In the morning, they are given their first clue to the next mission by the Princes. Chris says they were probably the happiest to to see the group leave the Chatau.
The note attached says to go to "the flower that blooms like the sun." They go to the garden to the next message that says "Surf's Up...go to the headless statue." They go to the statue where they find the clue that says to go to the Arch DiVinci at the gate. Then they go to the well for yet another clue. They crawl inside and find some surf wax. That notes says they need to go to the windmill for the last clue. Antoine climbs on the top and he finds a beach ball. They are off to the beach in La Canau, France.
Patrice says he knows it's been rough lately and he hopes they will be friends again.
They go to La Canau --- surfers' paradise.
End Segment
More footage of Prince Phillip yells at them some more for being loud. He thinks they are acting because of all the cameras.

What MTV had to say about the episode:

Out the Window

Belou laments the ever-growing distance between her and the other Road Rulers. Lucky for her, she's met a new love, Pablo. After leaving Paris, the kids dine with royalty in a bonafide French chateau. Harsh words fly and tears fall as pent -up feelings come pouring out of the entire group. Everything is better in the morning, when an "Easter egg hunt for clues" on the castle grounds direct the Road Rulers to their next mission. Hmmm...sex wax on the beach?
