Program One
At Doc Gruber's house, the kids are having dinner with the shark tagging staff. Christian and Effie discuss their military experiences. Christian tells the kids he was in the army for 15 months. Effie says she was in the army for 2 years and 8 months and she was a lieutenant. Effie asks Christian if he had a blue beret, which means he was a "chocolate soldier", an expression to mean a beautiful soldier, like UN soldiers. He says yes, he wore the beret. Christian explains that the army was too rigid, too many rules... he was supposed to be an officer, so he went to an intensive 3 month school, but he failed in military behaviour because he didn't follow all the rules: he was often a minute or two late. Timmy asks him what his best excuse was for being late. Effie chirps in that there are no excuses in the army. Christian confirms that. Effie asks him if they punished him for being late, and then she is surprised that they didn't. She calls the Norwegian army "weenies". Christian quickly quips " you should have been there." Devin tries to instigate the animosity between the two in comparing their respective militaries... Christian agrees that the Israeli army is probably tougher, Effie tells them that they get punished for everything: it's an educational punishment, such as not being allowed to go home. She tells them that she was a medic and she was supposed to be an instructor, so she was waiting in the base for the course to start. One day she took off to visit a friend and didn't show up to the base for a day. The whole military police was looking for her. When she went back, the high rank officer gave her 3 weeks in prison, and she was still able to be an officer. Christian tells her she would not have been an officer in Norway. Timmy tries to convince Christian to tell Effie that his army was better.

Program Two
The kids have received their clue to steal the 8 ball from the Real World in Miami. As they eat pizza late at night in the Youth Hostel, they throw around ideas as to how to infiltrate the house and complete their mission... Emily suggests she and Effie enter by themselves, pretending they are hurt and wanting to use the phone... they can then say they've always wanted to play pool. Effie says it won't work because the Real World guys will never fall for it. Emily says "guys always fall for it" and Effie just doesn't know American guys. Effie asks if American guys are stupid. Emily says yes, and they should seduce the 8 ball out of them. Effie says it'll be a problem if the women answer the door... Effie suggests she and Emily pretend to be tourists who are lost and need to use the bathroom. Christian tells them that they should complete the mission as a group and not be divided. Emily tells him it'll never work with 5 people, and if the girls fail, then the guys can have a go at it. Timmy says he could go in as a drunk plumber, and if that fails, then the girls could give it a try. Timmy suggests they dress up as police, but Emily tells him it is against the law. He suggests going in as an exterminator, "with half his ass hanging out", looking under the fridge and saying there are no termites there. Emily suggests they look for insects that doen't exist. Timmy says they can call them "no-see-ums". Timmy suggests they go as carpet cleaners. Emily says painters. Timmy then suggests they go to deliver a singing telegram. Devin throws in his idea of Jehovah's Witnesses. Christian tells him the main problem is that they are too young. Emily says they can be "Avon Ladies", or at least, something which is a minimum wage job. Devin says they could be pizza delivery people. Christian suggests they go as chimney sweepers. He then reminds them that Mike from the Real World has a weakness for beautiful women, so Effie and Emily should just offer to have sex with him on the pool table.... kids all laugh and high five each other.

Program Three
After the kids successfully steal the 8 ball from the Real World house in Miami, they head back to the hostel. Emily opens the door to the girls' room and asks if Effie is coming out to eat with them. Even off screen, Effie's mood is obvious: "I don't care about eating.... just go!" Emily asks if they should wait for her, but she answers "no, if you don't want to wait, just go!" Emily turns and raises her eyebrows a little, as if to say "I tried." Timmy asks "What should we do?" Devin's reply has a humorous edge, but his intent is clear: "We leave her ass here. And get some f--in' food." That's exactly what they do, and the remaining four take their seats in a Tex Mex restaurant. At the table, Devin voices his annoyance: "What are Effie's two favorite words?" he asks, then supplies his own answer: "ŚNo' and Śgive'". Timmy says she's an army girl. Emily says Effie is just opinionated, and that's great. Christian also tried to defend her. "I don't mean to be a wise guy, but we're going to be together a long time and we have to deal with each other." Tim agrees, saying everyone is bound to get on someone else's nerves at some point. Christian's defense of Effie falters a little as he adds, "Not all of us love Effie, but we're going to be together 60-70 days..." "What's wrong with Effie?" Emily interrupts. Christian says nothing is... it's just that she tends to get on the nerves of the three guys. From outside the restaurant, Effie heads toward the door, joining the others when they are about to pay the check. She sits at the table with them, and immediately starts smoking. "Did you just blow smoke in my face?" Devin asks in a harsh tone. Instead of apologizing, Effie takes offense. "Like I did it on purpose!" she retorts. The bill arrives for a total of $85, shifting the attention to their monetary concerns and away from the personal issues of Effie versus the group.

Three Continued
Two of the Season 2 cast members -- Effie and Christian -- are not from the United States. Sometimes their English needs minor corrections. But, with Tim and Devin as teachers, things don't go quite as smoothly as they should. .

CHRISTIAN: I learned English at school. We started in third grade, and we also learn from television and radio and all that kinda stuff. And I feel comfortable most of the time speaking English, but sometimes I want to be a perfectionist -- just talk and explain exactly what I mean. . . Sometimes, that is a problem in English, because I don't know all the best words, and so on. Sometimes, the Americans are teasing both Effie and me, because we're saying things that are not correct -- in the language, in English, and so on. I'm sorry about the language, but it's so frustrating when you want say something, and you can't say it.

TIM: Yeah, I have a blast picking on Effie and Christian with their broken English, and giving them the wrong definitions to words. I think deep down, though, it really bugs them that I play with them.

DEVIN Between the two, I think Effie has a real good command over the language. But Christian's asked a lot of questions, so we might throw a couple of wrong words, you know, that'll be used in the wrong context with him. He's a lot of fun, though, to tease. It's hard not to tease, and it's hard not to laugh. But Christian's very gullible with some of the English phrases we use and he's not used to them, so we had a lot of fun, and we probably will throughout the trip -- keep teasing him. But, at the same time, teaching him as we go along.

CHRISTIAN: Timmy always hassles with me, and tries to learn me the wrong expressions and just teach me something that is completely wrong. I just think that if I'm supposed to learn this language one hundred percent, I have to, I have to meet the wall sometime, do something wrong, and learn from it.

EFFIE: Sometimes, I know it's pretty annoying to explain to Christian a lot of things, and maybe to me. It is annoying. But if you don't have tolerance to me, then I don't want to be around you, okay? My English is not perfect, Christian's is not perfect, and sometimes I think that at some point, they're making fun Christian. And I'm embarassed for him. I don't like people who are not too tolerant enough for people and things that are different from them, okay?
